Missing Adamawa singer found unconscious; reunited with family

A famous Adamawa musician, Ado Daukaka, who went missing on Saturday, was found on Wednesday morning after his suspected abductors left him unconscious in a village outside Yola town, relatives said.

Daukaka disappeared early Saturday when some strange persons went to his Yola home to look for him.

His “abduction” came hours after he had released a controversial album that lampooned corrupt and inept public office holders.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed by the relatives of the musician to speak on the matter said Daukaka was found almost dead in a village called Lamurde.

“We got a call from Lamurde area that he was found by villagers who saw him lying unconscious in the bush. They later handed him over to police in the area,” the source.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, a superintendent of police, said the police command headquarters in the state had taken delivery of Mr. Daukaka, who was brought in from the neighbourhood.

He said the musician had since regained consciousness and has been reunited with his family.

He called on residents to remain vigilant in their neighbourhoods and report suspicious persons to the nearest security formation for prompt response.
