A 20-year-old man, Adamu Mai-bisco has killed his father, mother, and 2 sisters at Batayya ward in Potiskum, Yobe State.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident happened Monday   around 11:35pm, following which there was a distress call to the police who arrested the suspect.

The Yobe State Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, confirmed that the suspect used shovel and a knife to kill 4 of the family members.

The suspect confessed to the police that he took illicit drugs, Tramol and Indian hemp, before carrying out the attack. The police said they could not establish clear motive for the killing so far.

A witness, Malam Ibrahim, told our correspondent, “Ado, as the suspect was fondly called by his 50-year-old mother, came out of the house with shovel and jack knife and confessed to have wiped out the family. He told me, ‘Na gama da su,’ meaning, I have finished them.’ I asked what he meant by that and he started chasing me with his knife. He was intercepted by good Samaritans, bundled off and handed over to the police around 1:00am.”

A neighbour who did not want his name mentioned, told our correspondent that the suspect had the habit of threatening to kill people even before the attack. The neighbour said the suspect first killed his father who was in the master bedroom sleeping, that the mother met her own death when she walked in on him and he struck her, that he then rushed outside where his two sisters were sleeping, slit the throat of one, and turned on the other one who had woken up by then but was overpowered by the brother.

“The last girl he killed was already awake when he got to her and she actually shouted, but he killed her before neighbours could get to her,” the neighbour said.

Adamu Mai-bisco’s father, Malam Magaji Mai-Bisco, was aged 65; while the mother, Mama Ado, was 50. The sisters were Aisha, 16; and Zainab,14.
