This is the news Man United fans have been waiting for.
It’s been an open secret that Manchester United have been trying to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid this summer, and the headline news in the Spanish media on Thursday morning is that there’s “total agreement” with Los Blancos over the transfer going ahead.
Spanish radio station Cadena Cope believe the whole Morata deal could be wrapped up today, as Man United are set to get on the phone with Real to thrash out the final details of the deal.
Although reports had filtered out of Spain claiming Madrid were holding out for 90 million euros, Cope think Real Madrid may accept 70 million from Man United after all.
Cope also revealed that Jose Mourinho has been in almost daily contact with Morata to convince him of a move, adding the “player already has an agreement with the English club”.
Elsewhere, Morata’s agent Juanma López was at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday to discuss his client’s exit from the club.
Morata’s Man United move is also bigged up in Marca, as they focus most of their attention on Real Madrid signing Kylian Mbappe.
Marca believe that Real will try to sign Mbappe this summer, noting “the obsession of Los Blancos is to close as soon as possible.”
It’s possible that Mbappe will agree a deal with Real this summer, but he’ll remain at Monaco next season before moving to Spain after the World Cup.
